GSN: How long have you been teaching at Garfield HS?
Coach Rivas: “I’ve been teaching for 6 years and have been coaching 11 years…”
Global Studies very own Coach Rivas answers to an exclusive interview with GSN. A Great teacher and coach of the Bulldogs Basketball team, Coach Rivas attended Garfield himself and graduated class of 1995. Out of the 11 years of his coaching carreer, he has been head coach for 6 years.
Unlike your average drill sergeant, Coach Rivas is a driven, quick-to-laugh person who is dedicated and truly motivates his team. Accordingly, he states that he will be focusing a lot on his players defence skills, indicating that they’re going to go all oout this year.
Additionally, the basketball team have participated at the Blue Pride Classic at El Rancho HS and Santa Fe. To start of the New Year, the basketball team will be participating at the Hungtington Park Tournament on January 2nd to the 6th. So make sure to get out there and support the team. GO BULLDOGS!!!!!
